TGS: Tekken 6 announced for 360
by Sam Atkins October 9th 2008 2:29 PM CDT0 Comments
Another developer sees the light once more, and avoids limiting a game to the PS3, as Tekken is coming to 360 this time round. The only other time the series has appeared on a non Sony console was for the one-off Tekken Advance, which makes this a very special event indeed. Following in the footsteps of Final Fantasy XIII at E3, the announcement was a highlight of the keynote it took place in. The game is set to include the recent Japanese arcade update Bloodline Rebellion, which adds new characters and tweaks to the Tekken formula. Another Sony exclusive that has come over to the Xbox side, what a surprise. -

Exclusive 360 Tomb Raider Underworld DLC
by Sam Atkins October 6th 2008 2:44 PM CDT0 Comments
Despite the series' origins on the Sony systems, Tomb Raider Underworld will have exclusive DLC on 360. It all feels a bit familiar to the GTAIV deal in a way, with Microsoft securing extra content that could make the possible PS3 purchasers of the game opt for the far superior version. The DLC will be two downloadable episodes, titled 'Beneath the Ashes' and 'Lara's Shadow'.
Eidos have promised up to 6 hours of gameplay per episode too, which is promising with the announcement that one will be released by the end of the year, while the other in early 2009. This is just another example of the work Microsoft is doing to make the 360 the only system to own, but chances are, this DLC will be out before the infamous GTAIV content. -
Save and Pass around your Halo 3 clips
by Beau King October 5th 2008 6:12 PM CDT1 Comments
Adding to the fray of user generated content and file sharing is a new offering for those subscribing to the Bungie Pro serice. Instead of wasting money on a conversion card players will now have the option to simply convert a favorite clip into a .WMV format and pass it around the internetz to their hearts content.
Clicking the Render to Video option will now either save the file directly to the computer or post it on Bungie.net under the user's account info. Thankfully Halo 3 l33ts will not only scream their superiority over the mic, they will now have the option to shove countless videos in your face as proof.

New Xbox Experience has no loopholes
by Beau King October 1st 2008 9:10 PM CDT0 Comments
Those wishing to avoid or circumvent the update of all updates coming later this fall have been outsmarted once more. Staying offline will only postpone the installment.
Every new game coming out will contain the necessary code to obtain the new update without any choice. Therefore users can either just play old games or quit alltogether. Either choice looks unlikely.
For those accepting of the update, especially looking forward to the Netflix feature will be happy to know that Netflix and Starz are now in cahoots meaning more content to stream. Also partnering in is CBS and ABC with conibuous streams of their shows 24 hours after they are aired. Neato.

Fallout 3 is worth the money
by Beau King October 1st 2008 8:47 PM CDT0 Comments
Cranking through the spin cycle is word that PS3 owners are not getting short changed by lack of DLC. Known already is both Xbox 360 and PC users will be granted access to "exclusive" content. Peter Hines however says that:
"For us, with a game that offers 100 hours of gameplay, we don’t feel like we’re sort of short changing you [PS3 owners] up front. You’re gonna get your $60 worth out of this game, no matter what platform you buy it for, because there is so much content and so much stuff to do..."
Translating Mr. Hines comment leads one to believe that the DLC will offer Xboxers more hours of gameplay that PS3 owners receive by simply replaying the game. Too bad he is late for the campaign trail.
